Proverbs 16: 7

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Thinking on this verse, in our present time, it seems unfitting. We live in a world where the whispers of war are on the lips of every continent.  One where militant dignitaries make deals with radical terrorists to simply advance their own country's political position. A place where everyone seems to be seeking self-preservation by the manipulation and destruction of others.

Our world almost makes this verse unbelievable. Even in my own day to day life, I have gathered unfortunate "enemies," and peace is about the last thing that I believe they wish for me (we're not even Facebook friends any more; Ha- true measure of a friend). Yet, the Lord is the same yesterday and today, and He will be the same tomorrow. So, this verse must fit, it must be a hope, even if it's cultural odds oppose it. Because, the hope is in the work of the Lord... look closely,

"He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

...meaning, that the Lord will bring man's enemies to be peaceable towards him if that man's ways seek to please the Lord primarily.  It is the work of God sovereignly allowing even a man's enemies to find cordiality or at best favor with said man, when that man serves an audience of ONE.  This verse brings the assurance of God's fight for us, when we seek to please Him ALONE.

Easier said than done, especially for the people pleasers of our circles, but relieving nonetheless.  We only have ONE person to please, ONE person to make smile and ONE person to serve.  So, allow yourself the freedom today to know that the Lord has your back, even if it feels like no one else does. Seek to please Him ALONE, and all else will be at peace.

Matt. 6:33
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Hebrews 13:6
6 So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
