Sabbath Keeping

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt 11:28)

“Labor is a craft, but perfect rest is an art.” – Heschel, The Sabbath

Sabbath is a God-given rhythm that gently reminds us to slow down because we are often too busy with work and worry. God made us for both rest and work. Both are acts of worship and both help us flourish as a people. But in our current culture, it is easy to place our identity in our work, our performance, and our accomplishments.

We are learning to participate in the rhythms of Jesus when we work from our rest, rather than rest from our work. We want to be intentional about slowing down, creating margin, and being fully present with God and each other.
